Important Update: Out of Area Registration Policy

Posted by: samwilliamson - Posted on:

At Dr Murray and Partners, we are committed to providing high-quality care to all our registered patients. To ensure we can continue to deliver the best possible services, we have recently reviewed and updated our Out of Area Registration Policy.

Key Changes to Note:

New Registrations – From 1st December 2024, we will no longer accept new registrations for patients who live outside our practice boundary. This also applies to additional household members of current Out of Area patients, including newborn babies.

Existing Out of Area Patients – If you are currently registered with us but live outside our boundary, you can remain on our list. However, if you move to another address outside our boundary, you will need to register with a GP practice closer to your new home.

Home Visits & Prescriptions – Patients registered under Out of Area status will not be eligible for home visits. Urgent prescriptions must be collected from our reception at Ulverston Health Centre.

Annual Review – All Out of Area patients will receive an annual letter reminding them of this policy and their registration status.

Why Are These Changes Being Made?

Providing safe and effective care requires close coordination with community services such as health visiting teams and safeguarding partners. These teams operate within specific geographic areas, making it difficult to offer the same level of support to patients living outside our boundary.

Next Steps

✔ If you are unsure whether your address falls within our boundary, you can check on our website: doctorsinulverston.com.
✔ If you need to find a new GP closer to your home, visit the NHS website: Find a GP.
✔ If you have any questions, please contact our reception team for further guidance.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we implement these changes to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
