Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

Prescriptions can be ordered as follows:

  • Order online (Call into the surgery to register for Patient Access)
  • Choose a pharmacy of your choice to order on your behalf
  • Post your request (enclosing a stamped/self-addressed envelope if you want the prescription to be posted back to you)
  • Telephone after 11:00 am
  • Call at the surgery and complete a request slip, to put in the red post box by the reception desk

It is very important that we are given the correct name, strength and dosage of each item requested.

From time to time you may be asked to make an appointment with the doctor or practice pharmacist to review your treatment.

Collecting your prescription

We require 72 hours to process a repeat prescription. However medications that are not on repeat, will take longer to process.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Warning advice: Prescription Requests

We are only able to prescribe 28 days medication at a time. Due to infection control we are avoiding accepting any paper from patients. Prescription requests will need to be via patient access or via telephone if you do not have access to the internet.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
