Non-urgent advice: Sunderland Enhanced Access Service
If you can’t get an appointment with your GP or can’t get there during the day due to work or other commitments you can use the Enhanced Access Service.
Sunderland offers extra appointments seven days a week at your local out of hours site, alternatively it may be possible to arrange an appointment at another site across the city which your practice will arrange.

Non-urgent advice: Emergencies
The Following Symptoms constitute an emergency:
Severe Chest Pain, Severe burns/scalds, Heavy blood loss, Meningitis, Unconsciousness/reduced consciousness/little or no response, ‘Blue’ baby or adult, Stroke like symptoms (weakness/slurred speech) and Significant difficulty in breathing.
Please note that this list is not inclusive and other symptoms may also be appropriate, if you are uncertain, quickly assess the situation and contact an emergency ambulance if appropriate.
In the case of an emergency, call 999.
