Repeat Prescriptions

All repeat prescriptions are managed on computer and there is also a record in each patient’s file. A computer slip is issued to all patients on regular medication and should be used when ordering your next prescription.

Other Ways to Order your Prescriptions

  1. Telephone:
A telephone service is in place for all prescriptions and can be used by calling the Practice between 9.30am – 12.15pm
(All calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes)
  2. Pharmacy:
Arrange with a local pharmacy to request and collect your prescription.
  3. In Person:
You may request your prescription by ticking the items that you require on the reorder slip and either place the slip in the designated prescription box in our waiting area or hand in to reception.

Non-urgent advice: Notice

Please note that it is not possible to accept repeat medication orders by fax.

Please ensure you have enough medication to last over the weekend as prescriptions cannot be ordered or collected on Saturdays and Sundays.

I Do Not Have a Reorder Slip

If you do not have a reorder slip, this is no problem for the receptionist so please ask the receptionist to request the medication for you.

When will my Prescription be ready?

Prescriptions will be ready for collection in two working days if you will be picking the prescription up from the surgery. If being sent to a pharmacy, it will be 3 working days. By post you should allow up to 7 days.

A script received on Tuesday at 4pm will be ready for collection

Please request repeat prescriptions well in advance of public holidays, etc.

For those that request their prescription be sent to a local pharmacy then the time will be dependant on that pharmacy. Please contact the relevant pharmacy for an indication of the timescale.

Pharmacy Collect Service

If you use a regular pharmacy, why don’t you ask them about their collect service. You only need to uplift your ready dispensed prescription from the pharmacy within the designated time frame. The pharmacy will order and collect your prescription for you.

Please remember your prescription will be ready after 3 full working days (not including weekend or public holidays).

Useful Information

Each drug has two names, the generic and the brand name. Where possible we use the generic name because this is usually much cheaper for the health service. Due to this, you may notice a change in colour, shape or size of your drug. Do not be concerned by this, you are still receiving the same drug of the same quality, it is only the appearance that has altered.

Please book your medications review appointment at least 10 days before your medication runs out.
