Vaccinations – Where are we?
Since January of this year staff from Blackburn Road and Birkenshaw have been delivering CV19 vaccinations at the Al Hikmah mass vaccination site.
Working during the week, providing overtime and working weekends and bank holidays. The Nurses and Health care assistants have been giving the vaccination, supported by our Admin team who coordinate the flow of patients and complete all the paper work. GPs have provided clinical cover while the Manager has run the site on a rota with other Managers to ensure that the centre is a success.
Every week we have provided a GP session, a manager session, 8 Nurse sessions and 10 Admin sessions so that the wider community has the greatest access to the vaccine.
We have achieved this by working with our friends and colleagues across Batley and Birstall.
In addition small teams of our GP’s, Nurse’s and administrators have gone out into the community to Care Homes and housebound residents to ensure the most vulnerable are given the vaccine as early as possible.
They have achieved ALL this whilst also delivering routine care at Blackburn Road Medical Centre and Birkenshaw Health Centre – working harder, better and smarter, achieving more for the community with less – despite fewer staff available due to staffing the mass vaccination centre, staff shielding and staff sickness.
