Appointments

To make an appointment telephone us on 01484 426044, book online or call in at the surgery, reception is open from 08:30 – 18:30.

We try to see patients within 48 hours however if you need to see the doctor urgently and you do not have an appointment please tell the receptionist and you will  be given the next available appointment.

This might be at the end of surgery but urgent cases will always be seen.

Appointment System

Advanced appointments – Allows patients to choose their preferred day and time in advance eg next week, 4 weeks, 6 weeks etc.

Book on the day appointments – When all advanced appointments have been taken, a system exists by which a certain amount of appointments can be given only on the day, these are available to patients who phone at 8.30am prompt.

Urgent appointments – The nature of the emergency must first be explained to the receptionist who may need to consult the GP for him to ascertain if an urgent appointment is necessary.

Telephone consultation appointments – can always be made but will operate after the morning or evening surgery.

Double appointments – these can be made on request when the patient has more than one problem.

Home Visits

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor.

Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Patients who persistently fail to attend appointments without prior notice may be asked to find an alternative practice.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:00 if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice.

Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

In this respect please give the receptionist as much information as possible to enable the doctor to prioritise visits.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.

You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
