For health information and advice, or if you need medical help fast when we are closed, call NHS 111. NHS 111 is the number to call when you need medical help fast but it’s not a life threatening emergency.
In life threatening emergencies such as chest pain and severe shortness of breath you should call 999
Extended Access Appointments
Evening and Weekend Appointments are now available where patients can see a local GP for routine appointments on weekday evenings and at weekends at Dewsbury Health Centre
These appointments are pre-bookable or on-the-day and appointments are available between 6.30pm and 9.30pm each weekday with additional slots available on Saturdays from 9am and 4pm and Sundays 9am and 1pm

These appointments can be accessed by contacting the GP surgery or by calling the free NHS 111 phoneline out of normal working hours

North Kirklees Walk-in Centre
You can see a nurse practitioner for treatment or diagnosis of minor injuries and illnesses. (No children under 2 years please) Monday to Friday 08:00 to 20:00 at the Walk-in-Centre, Dewsbury District Hospital, Halifax Road, or The Old Schoolhouse Surgery at Dewsbury Health Centre. You do not need an appointment.
Your Local Pharmacist
Your local pharmacist will be able to give you free health advice at any time and you don’t need an appointment. The pharmacy holds a healthy living clinic once a week (details available from the pharmacy).They also provides an order/collect/delivery service for repeat prescriptions. Many pharmacies operate extended hours on a rota basis, call NHS Direct for details.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
