NHS Health Check

All patients aged between 40 and 74 who don’t suffer from diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, ischaemic heart disease (angina or heart attack) or cerebrovascular disease (stroke) are welcome to have a cardiovascular check. Please make an appointment with the nurse or health care assistant.

Family Planning and Contraception Services

We offer advice on all methods of contraception at the surgery. We provide a service for the fitting and removal of the IUCD (coil) and the contraceptive implant. Please ask at reception for details.

Cervical Cytology (Smear Test)

All women aged between 25 and 64 should have regular cervical smears.

From July 2025, younger women (aged 25 to 49) who test negative for HPV, meaning they are at very low risk of cervical cancer over the next 10 years, will safely be invited at 5-year intervals rather than 3, in line with major clinical evidence.

Those whose sample indicates the presence of HPV or who have a recent history of HPV, which causes nearly all cervical cancers, will continue to be invited to more frequent screenings to check HPV has cleared and if not, if any cell changes have developed.

The move follows a recommendation by the UK National Screening Committee, and is the approach already used for women aged 50 to 64 in England. Further information on the change can be found on here.

Please book an appointment with the nurse.

“Baby Clinic” & Mother Postnatal Checks

For developmental checks, such as the 6-8 weeks check, please make an appointment through reception. Mothers also receive postnatal checks.
