Travel Advice, Holiday Vaccinations and Anti-Malarial Medication

Its that time of year when we are all looking forwards to our summer holidays.

Did you know at Spa Surgery we have a travel vaccination clinic?

We offer limited appointments for travel vaccinations that are available on the NHS.  In order to facilitate this we ask for you to book an appointment in our travel clinic well in advance.  Many of the vaccines need to be undertaken at least 6-8 weeks before travel

We perform a comprehensive check and pre-assessment via a telephone call with our travel nurse who has undertaken further training in travel medicine to know what is required.  You will then be booked in for the relevant immunisations.  It may be that you need additional immunisations that are not covered by the NHS.  You can check requirements by looking at the following:

Home – MASTA Travel Health | For All Your Vaccination advice

Home – Fit for Travel

Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio booster – protects patients for 10 years
Hepatitis A – protects patients for 25 years (after two doses)
Typhoid – protects patients for 3 years

If you need additional medications for malaria or additional travel vaccines we suggest you contact a private service who will be able to accommodate you, especially if you are short on time.  There is a list of local private services available on our website: Travel Information – Spa Surgery

Our travel clinic has limited appointments as our nurses are also busy with essential clinical work.  We cannot perform this work for you at short notice as it is difficult to prioritise travel vaccinations above other clinical work.

Please feel free to send us a postcard and don’t forget the sunscreen!
