All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GP’s working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.”

The average pay for GPs working at this practice in the last financial year was £61,012 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 10 part time GPs, and 1 locum GP.”

We hold your patient records in the strictest confidence, regardless of whether they are electronic or on paper. We take all reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorised access to your records, however, they are stored. Any information that may identify you is only shared with the practice team, or if you are referred to the hospital, to the clinician who will be treating you. We will only share information about you with anyone else if you give your permission in writing. All staff undertake mandatory ‘Equality and Diversity training at required intervals and the practice policy is updated annually or if any changes in legislation.

From time to time our GPs and Nurses assist in the training of medical students and student nurses. You may be asked by our receptionist if you would be willing to have a student present at your consultation. If you would prefer not to have a student present simply tell the receptionist who will arrange for your consultation to be unaccompanied.

Gibson Lane Practice will be upgraded to a new patient record sharing system on the 6th October 2013. This new patient record sharing system will allow patients to decide which information they would like to securely share from their electronic GP record and from other devices where they may be receiving NHS care.

How is my Decision Recorded?

You can decide whether you want to securely share any of your information recorded in the practice with other NHS Services – this is known as ‘sharing out’.

You are also able to control whether any information which has been recorded elsewhere can be viewed by your GP – this is known as ‘sharing in’.

We strongly support the NHS policy on zero tolerance. Anyone attending the surgery who abuses the GPs, staff or other patients be it verbally, physically or in any threatening manner whatsoever, will risk removal from the practice list. In extreme cases, we may summon the police to remove offenders from the practice premises.
