When can I order my Repeat Prescription?
A: Patients are able to order their Repeat Prescription 7 days in advance of their due date. Any prescription requests ordered before the 7 days will be refused by our Prescription Team.
Prescription Requests take 48 hours to be processed at the practice.
What if I’m going on Holiday?
A: If you have a Holiday coming up and need to order your repeat prescription earlier than 7 days prior to your due date, please make the Prescription Clerk aware this is why you are making an early request. You can do this by adding a written note to your paper prescription request or by using the additional request box when ordering your prescription online, this will avoid your early request been refused.
What is the Electronic Prescribing Service?
A: This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service. This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you from having to come down to the surgery.
To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask the Prescription Clerk to sign you up.
Changes to Prescribing Over The Counter Medicines
The GP, Nurse or Practice Pharmacist will not generally give you prescriptions for over the counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns. Instead, over the counter medicines are available to buy in a pharmacy or supermarket in your local community. The team of local health professionals at your local pharmacy can also offer help and clinical advice to manage minor health concerns and if your symptoms suggest it’s more serious, they’ll ensure that you get the care you need.

Help with NHS costs
In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:
- Those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme.
- Those who are age exempt.
- Those with certain medical conditions.

NHS Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
- Prescription (per item): £9.35
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
- 3-month PPC: £30.25
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
