Clinics and Services we offer:
- Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion
We offer health promotion during routine appointments. We offer conventional advice: Don’t smoke, moderate consumption of food, fat, alcohol and caffeine. We offer advice about diet, exercise, immunisation, breast examination, and cervical cytology. - Midwife
We share ante-natal and post-natal care with our Community Midwife, telephone Nottingham 8761890. The midwife runs some ante-natal clinics at Sherwood Health Centre, but they are based at Southglade Health Centre. - Sexual Health
We offer sexual health checks and chlamydia screening.
We are offer a sexual health check-up to everybody aged 15 to 24.
This is just for people without symptoms and will look for infections such as chlamydia. It does not involve an examination, but involves just a simple urine test for men; and women take their own swab.
If you would like to go ahead with a check-up, please book an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses.
Dr Foxwell will fit and remove contraceptive implants. If you would like to discuss either of these methods of contraception, please arrange to speak to them by phone - Health Visitors
The HV team work with us giving general health advice and support to the parents/carers of young children. The Health Visitors (team name changed to the 0 to 18 team) under non covid circumstances) have an open drop-in clinic on a Thursday from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Sherwood Health Centre for the under 1s. They also offer breast feeding support on a Thursday here at the H/C from 12noon to 2pm.
The Health visitors are not doing face to face clinics or reviews at the moment
The HV team can be contacted by ringing 8831400 and can put you in touch with various sources of help and support. - Baby and Child Immunisations
We run a clinic on Thursday mornings for babies and children to have their injections. Appointments can be made at reception or by phoning us on 9858822.
Elmswood’s baby vaccination clinic is on Thursday mornings… please call reception for an appointment for your child. This clinic has been run all through the pandemic, and continues. It is most important that children receive all their vaccinations
We strongly recommend that children should have the full course of immunisations on offer to protect against infectious diseases which can cause death and disability. - Home Nursing
We work with a team of District Nurses, who visit patients requiring nursing assistance at home. They can be contacted by phoning 8831400. Patients recently discharged from hospital should have their home nursing arranged by their hospital nursing team before they are discharged. - Non NHS Services
