JRB Healthcare is committed to its carbon neutral agenda – GO GREEN

The Green agenda is one of our top priorities at JRB and all our staff are involved in this agenda. Over the past few years, we have been aiming to go as ECO friendly and carbon neutral as possible without making drastic changes to our service or patient care.

Less Paper – We have looked at a lot of our processes and reduced the need for printing.

Previously we were buying Ink and toners for our printers monthly along with the paper, through the implementation from staff and the support from our patients. We have reduced our ordering of paper and printing equipment by nearly 80% from when we took over the practice in 2019.

We have not ordered paper prescriptions since Jan 2020, which we used to order every few months in the past. We would like to thank all our patients and local pharmacies for helping us in achieving this.

We are one of the top practices in electronic prescription and repeat dispensing in the city. This has improved our patient care along with furthering our green agenda.

We have used NHS approved IT systems and reduced the paper requests our patients use to order medications. We have held a few open days promoting the NHS APP.  We have nearly tripled the number of NHS app users in the last 2 years. The number of logins has increased from 1,000-2,000 logins a month to almost 6,000. Please refer to the graph for the uptake.

The promotion of the NHS app/ Systmonline and Accurx software have allowed patients to make requests for multiple services online without the need to use paper or travel to the practice at their own convenience.

The money that we have saved by the above exercise, we have been able to further with our vision on being eco-friendly by installing LED lights throughout the property which has motion sensors. We have installed HIVE to control our heating. The blinds have been changed to improve our heat loss. We are saving money to fund the change of windows to more energy efficient ones, hopefully soon.

We are now installing Solar panels to further our commitment. We are thankful to Nottingham council for their contributions though their grant. We aim to bring more renewable sources of energy in the future. We would welcome any suggestions and contribution or ideas from the public to help us with this dream of going carbon neutral as soon as possible.
