Helen Murphy

Helen joined OHP in January 2024. She has a degree in Business Studies with Finance, qualified as an accountant in 1997 and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She first joined the NHS through a work placement year in the finance department of a Community Trust. Following graduation, she joined University Hospitals Birmingham where she trained and qualified as an accountant.

During her 11 years at the Trust, she had many different roles starting in Financial Accounts, then moving into Management Accounts and finally working as a Project Accountant setting up the Centre for Defence Medicine and doing the financial modelling for the Birmingham New Hospitals Project. Following a move to Warwickshire she took up a role as Head of Finance for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue for 10 years. Helen then moved back to the NHS through Primary Care spending 6 years as a GP Practice Manager, taking up her first role in a 6,000 patient practice in Coventry then quickly moving to a larger role as Practice Manager for a practice in Banbury (a 6 Partner practice with 17,000 patients). She supported the practice through two mergers to become a practice at scale with over 40,000 patients. She also managed the PCN.

Helen lives in Warwickshire with her husband, two sons and her cat. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, tending her garden, walking and holidays.
