About Us
About Ritchie Street Group Practice
Ritchie Street Neighbourhood Health Centre was originally known as The Doctors Group Practice. The practice was formed in the 1920s and is one of the oldest practices in Islington. The practice was first located at 83 Barnsbury Road and later in Gibson Square, where there was a railway carriage in the garden in which the patients were seen. The practice then moved to Batchelor Street. The partnership grew along with the list size and the premises soon became too small. In 1997 the practice moved to current purpose-built premises and became known as the Ritchie Street Group Practice.
The practice has almost 18,000 patients and has some of the best accessibility in the borough for appointments. We are proud to be one of the few practices in London that are open 6 days per week and offer a high number of nursing appointments during the evenings as well as Saturday’s, to help parents and working people access our services.
The practice has a full complement of attached staff including health visitor, community matron/district nursing service, palliative nursing care, dieticians, community midwife, psychologist, counsellor, primary care mental health service, and adult and child psychology services.
The practice liaises closely with university College London Hospital NHS Trust and The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust for medical care. We are also a training practice for junior doctors.
The practice is accessible by Wheelchair and all our consultation rooms are located on the ground floor making it easy for patients with disabilites.
Nappy and breast feeding room is also available.
There is also a Pharmacy on site for patient convenience.

North Central London Integrated Care Systems (NCL ICS)
At our practice, we are proud to be commissioned by the North Central London – Integrated Care System (NCL ICS), which oversees healthcare services for Islington patients. As of 2022, NCL ICS has replaced the old Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and is responsible for coordinating healthcare in five boroughs, including Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington, serving a population of approximately 1.6 million residents
As a trusted healthcare provider, we offer General Practice primary care services to our patients as part of the NCL ICS commission. Additionally, we are proud to provide enhanced services, including our drug and alcohol service, to meet specific needs within our community.
We encourage you to visit the North Central London – Integrated Care System website for more information about their important role, initiatives, and objectives. This integrated care system aims to improve healthcare outcomes and enhance the well-being of the population.
