New Patients

New Patient Registration

Our practice area is to the north of the A14 and includes the villages of Willingham, Longstanton, Rampton, Over, Swavesey & Northstowe.

Catchment Area

Registration packs are available from reception and the receptionist on duty will advise you of the registration procedure and will give you details about our practice. We will need proof of address and ID in order to register you.

Although you will be formally registered with one of the partners they are not all present every day of the week. You may choose to see any doctor you wish but it is advisable if possible to see the same doctor for one particular problem as both investigation and treatment take time.

As a new patient, you will be invited to make an appointment for yourself and your family to attend for a New Patient Health Check. You MUST make a GP appointment to set up any repeat medication requests, as this is not carried forward from your previous surgery.

Routine appointments can be made in advance. We try to accommodate same day emergencies at the end of the morning.

Bar Hill Residents

We regret to inform you that we are currently unable to accept any further registrations from Bar Hill. This area currently falls within our outer boundary, and we are having to suspend applications due to capacity and the increasing demands on GP time.

We have to ensure the clinical care we are able to provide all of our patient population is the very best it can be, which is why we have made the decision to limit our intake from the outer area so we can continue to do so.

Please be assured the situation will be reviewed and we will inform patients when we are once again able to accept applications from our outer boundary.

For clarification, any Bar Hill residents already registered with the surgery will be unaffected by this change in policy. We are able to continue accepting registrations from Willingham, Longstanton, Rampton, Over, Swavesey and Northstowe.

Should you have any concerns about this, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery and ask to speak with the Practice Manager who will be more than happy to help.

Guide to GP Services

The Royal College of General Practitioners has produced a useful guide for patients about the services on offer at GP Surgeries and how to access them. You can download the guide below.

They cover issues such as the role of GPs, their function as gatekeepers to the health services, how to register and how to access emergency services.

Special care has been taken to ensure that information is given in clear language, and the content and style has been tested with user groups. Open the leaflets in one of the following languages

Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
