What conditions can you see your pharmacist about?

Under Pharmacy First, pharmacists can treat and prescribe medication for seven conditions. These are the conditions, and at what age, you can see the pharmacist about:

Anyone not within these age ranges should see their GP.

There are many existing conditions which you have already been able to see your pharmacist about. These include:

  • Aches and pains – such as, back pain, headache and period pain
  • Accidents – such as, sprains, minor cuts, and grazes
  • Colds, flu and other infections – such as, cough, congestion, fevers and/or temperature
  • Ear care – such as, ear wax
  • Eye care – such as, conjunctivitis, styes
  • Hay fever – which is not controlled by standard over-the-counter treatments
  • Rashes
  • Skin problems – such as, athlete’s foot, cold sores, or mild eczema or psoriasis
  • Stomach aches – such as, constipation, diarrhoea, or indigestion

How to book an appointment:

  • To resolve your administrative queries or get help with a non-urgent medical problem, including making an appointment, you can simply contact us via our online form (this can also be known, and referred to, as an e-consult / eConsult / Online consultation).
  • Call us Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.30pm, 01273 770555
  • Visit the practice and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm


    When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable health professional to help you.

    Our clinicians will try their best to address your concerns, should you request a particular healthcare professional, you may have to wait for an available appointment.

How to Cancel an Appointment

Need to cancel an appointment?It is important that you inform the reception staff please if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient.

This can be done by one of the following methods:

  • On your reminder text message there will be Cancel option
  • Phone us on 01273 770555, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • Log onto the NHS App, within the Appointments section you can the option to Cancel
  • Log on to SystmOnline

Do you need help with your appointment?

Please tell us if:

  • There is a specific doctor, nurse or another health professional?
  • You would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email?
  • Do you need an interpreter?
  • Do you have any other access or communication needs?

Home Visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment please phone the practice as soon as possible, before 10.30am. You will be booked in for a telephone appointment with a doctor, who will triage your request.

When we are closed

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need medical help when we are closed, call 111 or NHS 111 online. NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over, they will be able to advise on the care that you need. They can organise emergency services or an ambulance if needed. The NHS 111 is staffed by fully trained advisers supported by experienced nurses, pharmacists, and doctors. The NHS 111 service is available if you require urgent medical help, but it is not a life-threatening situation.

Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Pharmacies that offer free COVID-19 rapid lateral flow tests

This service enables patients to quickly and easily locate a pharmacy participating in the advanced service to provide free COVID-19 NHS lateral flow device (LFD) tests to eligible patients or their representative.


How to access Historical Conversations

If you have previously submitted an online form, you will be able to view your historical conversations.

Non-urgent advice: GP Extended Access Hours (EAH)

Through our partnership with the Brighton and Hove Federation, patients can now access extra appointments on Saturdays and Sundays.

Specialist clinics are also available, such as those for menopause and women’s health.

Please note, these appointments might be at a different location than the surgery and are subject to availability.

Patients must give consent for their notes to be read and added to.
