Nurses

Practice Nurses

Our in-house nursing team consists of 11 practice nurses, 3 health care assistants and 1 phlebotomist.

Our nurses run a number of specialist clinics including:

  • Respiratory Clinics
  • Diabetes Clinics
  • Lifestyle Clinics
  • Immunisation Clinics
  • Health Check Clinics
  • Smear Clinics
  • Women’s health Clinics
  • Warfarin monitoring Clinics

Each day there is also a nurse at both Herne & Broomfield Surgery and the Park Surgery running a ‘treatment room’ clinic. This clinic is for multiple  appointment types such as Blood pressure and ECG checks, dressings and ear syringing.

For more information on an individual nurse run clinic click the appropriate link under ‘clinics and services.’

Community Nurses

The Practice also works with District Nurses, Health Visitors and Midwives who work in the community.

Receptionists

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses and other healthcare professionals attached to the practice.

They have a difficult job dealing with telephone calls and enquiries from every direction and trying to please patients, doctors and nurses and other team members whilst remaining calm, courteous, efficient, sympathetic and professional so please be patient with them. When telephoning for an appointment, advice or a home visit the receptionist may ask you for a few details. They have been trained to make these enquiries on our behalf so we may help you in the most appropriate and efficient way.

All the receptionists work across both the Park Surgery and the Herne & Broomfield Surgery.

Secretarial and Administrative

The administrative staff and practice secretaries are based at The Park Surgery. The practice has 7 medical secretaries and 14 administrative staff performing a number of different tasks which are essential to the smooth running of the practice and ensuring we provide good patient care.

The practice secretaries deal with typing and directing all doctors’ dictations to the appropriate place, chasing results, typing specialist clinics, hospital appointments and queries regarding referrals.

The Admin team deal with answering incoming phone calls from other health care providers and monitoring the practice admin email account.

Administrative roles also include inviting patients for their annual reviews for long-term conditions, sending out blood & urine tests, booking appointments for extra service clinics provided at the surgery, summarising new patient’s records as they are received and returning records when patients move away from our practice, scanning hospital documents and directing them to the relevant people, organising childhood immunisation appointments, dealing with requests from solicitors, insurance reports and requests for medical records.
