Test Results
The surgery will contact you if your test results show you need more tests or treatment.
You may be asked to attend a follow-up appointment or sent information via your NHS app or by text message.
Once your test result has been reviewed in the surgery, you can view them in the NHS app or send a test result request via Accurx.
The current approximate waiting times for results are as follows:
- Blood tests: 10 working days
- X-ray: 4 weeks
- Ultrasound scan: 6 weeks
- MRI: 8 weeks
- Microbiology samples: 5-10 working days
- Swabs: 2 weeks
- Semen Analysis: 10 working days
- Biopsy: 8 weeks
- Smear Test: 8 weeks
Warning advice: Please note
It is the patients’ responsibility to follow up on their test results. Please allow at least ten days for your results to be returned.
Clinicians only review and interpret results for tests they have requested. If your test has been requested by a hospital or outpatient clinic, please call that hospital or clinic for the result, as we cannot action those tests requested by other teams outside the practice.
Non-urgent advice: Private Tests
If you have sought private tests, these cannot be actioned by the surgery. Please return to the private provider who arranged the test for follow-up of these results. If you have not seen a clinician but have arranged private testing yourself, these results will also require a private service to review.
Alternatively, you can complete a request by contacting us on AccuRx and telling us about the symptoms or concerns you have; any appropriate tests and appointments can then be arranged by the surgery.
