Dr Surekha Amonker

More about Dr Amonker

Dr Amonker completed her MBBS degree in 2017 in India before moving to the UK to pursue her post graduate studies. After completing foundation training in the Midlands, she moved to the South coast to be close to her family. Having completed her GP training based at our Whiteley surgery, she joined Meon Health Practice as a GP in August 2023.

Beyond the realm of medicine, Dr Amonker enjoys exploring new hiking trails, experimenting in the kitchen and listening to podcasts. However, her greatest source of fulfilment lies in spending quality time with her family.

Dr Rose Bailey

More about Dr Bailey

Dr Bailey qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2018. She stayed in Birmingham for her foundation training, before moving to Hampshire to complete her GP training. She joined Meon Health Practice as a GP in January 2025.
 
Outside of work, Dr Bailey enjoys spending time with her extended family in the picturesque surroundings of Cornwall. A keen cook, she loves experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and sharing these meals with her husband. 

Dr Tom Bertram

More about Dr Bertram

Dr Bertram qualified from Birmingham University Medical School in 2001.  After working in general and paediatric Emergency Departments in Birmingham and London, he did his general medical training in Southampton and specialist GP training in Portsmouth.  Dr Bertram has been a partner with the Jubilee Surgery in Titchfield since 2009, and is now the Clinical Director for Meon Health Practice.  He also works in a Primary Care Clinical Lead role for the Hampshire and IOW Integrated Care Board.
 
Outside work, Dr Bertram is an advocate for an active lifestyle and enjoys good food as well as time with his family.  He is a double Olympian and played Premier League hockey for nearly twenty years, although now spends any spare weekends competing in long distance running and cycling events. 

Dr Alison Bowden

More about Dr Bowden

Dr Bowden qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2009.  She completed her foundation and GP training in Southampton.  Dr Bowden worked for a time as a GP in Gosport, then joined our Jubilee surgery in 2017 as a salaried GP before becoming a partner in 2022.
 
Outside of work, Dr Bowden enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys – cycling, walking, swimming and eating ice cream at their beach hut.

Dr Jill Choudhury

Dr Choudhury qualified from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2008.  She did her specialist GP training in Dorset and joined The Highlands Practice in 2014.
 
Outside work, Dr Choudhury enjoys taking part in parkruns with her young family.

Dr Andi Clay

Dr Clay qualified in Sheffield a long time ago! She moved to Hampshire after graduating and trained in Basingstoke and Reading.
She has been a GP for 25 years and moved to Fareham 5  years ago to join Meon Health Practice.

Dr Clay also works as a Programme Director for the Wessex GP trainees and a Royal College examiner.
 
Outside work she enjoys running and song writing (sometimes at the same time) and has managed to produce 3 children, none of whom were remotely interested in following her into medicine!

Dr Katie Dixon

Dr Dixon qualified as a doctor at Southampton University in 1991 and has now been a GP for nearly 30 years, 28 of these in Fareham.

For those of you that remember her having her babies, they are now in their twenties and have left home. This leaves Dr Dixon with her husband and two labradors ‘Baxter’ and ‘Scooby’ in the house, when they’re not enjoying country walks.

Dr Louise Hudman

More about Dr Hudman

Dr Hudman qualified from Cambridge University in 2002. She spent the first 9 years of her life as a doctor in the Royal Navy and was deployed several times. After completing her GP training at our Highlands surgery, she worked as a locum GP for several years, combining work with travelling. Dr Hudman then joined Meon Health Practice as a salaried GP in 2018. 
 
In her spare time, Dr Hudman enjoys walking and playing hockey, a good cup of coffee, a piece of cake (obviously in moderation) and spending time with her family and very needy cat.

Dr Megan Johnston

More about Dr Johnston

Dr Johnston qualified from Royal Free & University College London Medical School in 2004. After completing GP training in the Midlands, she worked at practices in the Cotswolds and South Warwickshire before moving to Portsmouth in 2016, when she joined our GP team.

Her week is split between working at Meon Health Practice and as a training programme director for the Portsmouth & Isle of Wight GP training scheme. When not at work, she loves to get out on her bicycle, exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside, and sewing.

Dr Priya Joshi

Dr Joshi qualified from St George’s, University of London in 2013. After completing her Foundation Training in the Midlands, she did her GP Training in Somerset before moving to Hampshire. She has been working at Meon Health Practice since 2021. She is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.
 
Outside work, Dr Joshi enjoys cooking and baking, as well as spending time with her husband and children.

Dr Sarah Knight

Dr Knight qualified from Edinburgh University in 2007. She is the GP for our Complex Care Team – providing care to patients in their homes.

She is passionate about care of the elderly and supporting patients with a palliative diagnosis to live well.

Outside of work, she enjoys outdoor pursuits with her young family.

Dr Esther Lakes

More about Dr Lakes

Dr Lakes qualified from Leicester University Medical School in 1999. After working in obstetrics and gynaecology, accident and emergency medicine, paediatrics and elderly medicine, she joined the Portsmouth GP training scheme in 2003. Dr Lakes then qualified as a GP, passing with Merit.

Dr Lakes also has a recognised Diploma in Child Health and Family Planning. She has worked as a GP in North East Hampshire and the Isle of Wight before joining our practice in 2015 and became a partner in 2016. Dr Lakes is an Enhanced Clinical Supervisor and enjoys training GPs, staff and students.
 
Outside of work, Dr Lakes enjoys time with family and their 2 dogs who keep her well exercised.

Dr Rem Lee

Dr Lee has had a diverse career, graduating in medicine and then attaining a diploma in dance theatre in 1989. He combined working as a hospital junior doctor with touring and performing in the UK and Europe for 15 years before becoming a GP in 2004.He moved to the south coast with his wife and 2 sons in 2007, joining our Highlands surgery that year.

Dr Lee has particular interests in dermatology/ skin surgery, joint problems, and is respiratory lead for the practice.
He is lead research GP and coordinates the numerous research studies that the practice is engaged in. He is also a GP trainer.
Outside of work, Dr Lee spends time with his family and dogs and swimming, cycling and running.

Dr Janet Naylor

Dr Naylor qualified locally from Southampton University and has been a Partner in Titchfield for 26 years, having trained as a GP in Jubilee Surgery, becoming a Partner in 1998.  She has an interest in Sexual Health Dermatology and Medical Education, and is involved in GP training via Portsmouth.  She also supports GP training within the practice.
 
She enjoys outdoor life, especially dog walking and spending time with her family.

Dr Byron Neale

Dr Neale graduated from Swansea University Medical school in 2014. He went on to hospital rotations in Cheltenham and Gloucester and then General Practice specialty training in Southampton. Dr Neale joined our Highlands surgery as a GP in 2019 and became a partner in 2020.

Dr Helen Pethrick

Dr Pethrick qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2003 and stayed in South Yorkshire to complete her General Practice training. Dr Pethrick joined our Jubilee surgery in 2018.
Outside of work Dr Pethrick enjoys swimming, cycling and crafting.

Dr Jenny Rattray

More about Dr Rattray

Dr Rattray graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2005. Following time in paediatrics and cancer care she qualified as a GP in 2011. She is a military wife and moved to the Portsmouth area with her husband in 2012, joining our Highlands surgery team.

Dr Rattray also works as a GP advisor for Wessex Cancer Alliance and volunteers with ‘Mummy’s Star‘ cancer charity.

Outside of work, Dr Rattray’s young family keep her very busy and love helping her with her garden and allotment. She can often be found chasing them around the Hampshire countryside or the Scottish hills when they get the chance.

Dr Jo Ridgway

More about Dr Ridgway

Dr. Ridgway has been a GP partner for nearly 10 years and a doctor for 22 years. She graduated from Bristol Medical School in 2002 and subsequently worked in a Sydney emergency department for a brief period before settling on the South Coast, where she completed a two-year medical rotation before beginning her GP specialist training. 
 
Married with two children, who occupy a significant portion of her time as a “mum taxi,” she also enjoys activities such as walking along the coast, bodyboarding, and sailing. Dr. Ridgway prioritizes fitness and finds enjoyment in activities such as walking, running, and spin classes.

Dr Mary Udo

Dr Udo joined the Practice as a Partner in 2017. She completed her GP training in Southampton in 2014.
She has 3 children and enjoys spending time with them. She loves going for walks and has recently taken up gardening.

Dr Nigel Wade

GP Partner (Male)

More about Dr Wade

Dr Wade qualified from Birmingham University Medical School in 1987. He then proceeded with training at hospitals in the Portsmouth area and Chester, before specialist GP training in Portsmouth. After completing his training, Dr Wade worked in Australia for a short period of time, returning to England to further specialist clinical roles.

Dr Wade joined our Jubilee surgery in 1994 as a partner.
He will often be found on or in The Solent windsurfing and sailing in all weathers, especially when it is windy.

GP Registrars

Meon Health Practice is a registered GP training practice. We have a number of additional fully qualified and registered doctors training to become a GP through placements. These doctors are called GP Registrars. Each of our GP Registrars are supervised by an experienced GP mentor.

Locum GPs

We occasionally use fully qualified Locum GPs to cover periods of GP absence.

Physicians Associate

Our GPs are supported by a Physician Associate (PA). Our PA is a clinical graduate who works within a multidisciplinary team, trained in the medical model, under the supervision of our GPs.

Meon Health Practice Nursing Team

Our nursing team consists of:

• Practice Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and other Specialist Nurses
  Our nurses are all highly qualified and many of them are specialists in long term conditions. Our nurses help with the prevention and management of diabetes, coronary heart disease, heart failure and other heart conditions, stroke, hypertension, asthma and COPD, cervical cytology, travel health, sexual health and contraception, plus provide immunisations.
• Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) are nurses who have completed extra training and academic qualifications to Masters level. Their expertise means they can assess, diagnose, refer and treat patients in a similar way to GPs.  Our ANPs work with in our Urgent Care Team and Complex Care Team (see information about these teams below).
• Healthcare Assistants (HCAs)
  Our trained HCAs support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as health checks and measurements, long term condition reviews and other checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
• Phlebotomists
  These are professionally trained staff who can take blood samples from patients.

Together, these health professionals provide a range of clinics and services from our surgery locations.

Our Lead Nurse is Laura Miller.

Our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Practitioners help patients with bones, joints and muscle care including arthritis and back pain. These professionals are sometimes referred to as First Contact Practitioners.

You may be offered an appointment with an MSK Practitioner who will assess your problem and determine what support and treatment is needed. If you require physiotherapy as an ongoing treatment, they may refer you to the community physiotherapy service.

Our highly trained Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians look after all aspects of medications, including annual medication reviews, high risk medication monitoring and reconciling hospital medication changes as well as general medication queries.

Specialist Prescribing Administrators support the team to handle the 5,500+ prescriptions requested by our patients, hospitals and other NHS departments.

This team is led by Lead Pharmacist, Ria Shingdia.

Paramedics work within our multidisciplinary Complex Care Team (see information about this team below). Our Paramedics support patients who need help in their own homes and local residential care homes.

This team consists of Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) and Minor Illness Nurses who work closely with our GPs to assist patients who need same-day / urgent care. These nurses are trained to treat health problems such as ear, throat, skin, chest and urinary infections and can prescribe medication where necessary. They are also experienced at managing acute flare ups of long-term health conditions such as asthma and COPD.

Our Complex Care Team includes GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Paramedics and Care Co-ordinators. The team support patients who need help in their own homes and those in local care homes. Their work includes reviews of housebound patients with long term conditions and ward rounds for patients in nursing, residential, Learning disabilities and Mental Health homes. The team also monitor and support patients with palliative care needs. Each week, they liaise with other local community services to help patients. The team also helps to deliver the covid and flu vaccination programmes.

This team is led by Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Mary Scobell.

Our Wellbeing Team support patients with non-medical issues that do not need a medical prescription from a doctor. They are here to support with life situations you may be struggling with. The team consists of Social Prescribers and Health & Wellbeing Coaches:

Social Prescribers can take time to get to know you over a number of sessions, identifying what matters to you and helping you identify what support you may need.

Health Coaches will support and guide you to become more active in your own health and care. This could involve self-managing a long-term health condition or support to lose weight, prevent diabetes, stop smoking and more.

Solent Mind Mental Health Advisors work with the team to support patients.

Together, the team host weekly patient drop-in sessions where you can come along for a chat. They also provide several walking groups and exercise classes.

Our Wellbeing Manager is Jane Majidzadeh.



We have a substantial team of well-trained Patient Service Advisors and Care Coordinators who work at the Practice. They provide the link for patients to the Practice and are your initial point of contact for all enquiries. These Patient Services staff know a lot about NHS services and can signpost you to the right care at the right time. The questions they ask you are written by doctors to help obtain the information needed for our healthcare professionals to assess your care needs.

Working behind the scenes, our Patient Service Administrators are a vital part of keeping the practice running smoothly. They support and maintain our appointment schedules, the IT and clinical systems we use plus process the large amount of documents, letters, registrations and patient referrals.

Our Management Team is here to coordinate operations and ensure the Practice delivers a safe and robust service for our patients. They are supported by a small team of administrators and assistants.

Meon Health Practice is a research-active practice. Research is critical in helping prevent, diagnose, and cure diseases. Our Research Team may invite you to participate as a patient in research they are carrying out.

Our Practice works closely with other NHS community teams:

Midwives
Midwives provide antenatal clinics at a variety of locations in the local area. They monitor progress and offer help and advice on all aspects of pregnancy, delivery and postnatal care.

If you are pregnant, please self-refer for maternity care online.

After you submit this form, the hospital will review your information and contact you to arrange your antenatal care.  The maternity service will notify us that you are pregnant. There is no need for you to contact us unless you are worried about the pregnancy.

Health Visitors
Health visitors are advisors on child care and work closely with our doctor and nurse teams. The health visiting team will be notified of the birth of your baby. They may visit after birth and will be in contact with you throughout your child’s early years.

Community Nurses
Community nurses provide skilled nursing care for housebound patients living in the community.

The School Nursing service works in partnership with children, young people and their families to ensure that pupil’s health needs are supported within their school and their community.
