I need to request medication
I have a question about my medication
I am a visitor
Please contact your Practice back at home – they have access to your health record and are best placed to help you for safety reasons.
Your home Practice should be able to send your prescription electronically, to a pharmacy local to where you are staying.
Managing my Medication
Please ensure you make requests for prescriptions a few days before your medication runs out. All prescriptions are now processed electronically so you will need to nominate a pharmacy in order for us to process your request.
- Repeat prescription requests left before 12.30pm will available at your pharmacy after 5.00 pm the following day.
- Prescription requests left after 12.30pm will be available after two days.
- Requests left on a Friday afternoon will be available after 5.00 pm the following Tuesday.
Any requests for additional items, which are not on repeat, have to be authorised by the doctor. These prescriptions may take three working days to be issued or may not be available without an appointment. In order to eliminate mistakes prescriptions may not be requested over the telephone but can be made online, by email or through your nominated pharmacy.
I regularly forget to request my medication, or I leave it to the last minute
Let the Receptionist/Prescription Clerk know you would like to have your medication managed by the Practice (batched). The Practice Pharmacist/or a GP will then see if we can pre-authorise some, or all of your medication, for up to a year – you then only need to go to your preferred pharmacy to collect it as instructed.

I have out of date or unwanted medication
If your medicine is out of date, unwanted, or some of it is left over after you have stopped taking it, don’t put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet. Instead, take it to your local pharmacy to be disposed of safely.
