Ordering repeat prescriptions

Repeat prescription requests submitted before 12:30pm will be ready for collection at your pharmacy after 5:00pm the following working day.

Requests submitted after 12:30pm will be available after two working days.

For requests made on Friday afternoons, prescriptions will be ready after 5:00pm the following Tuesday.

Please note, any requests for additional items not on repeat must be authorised by a doctor. These prescriptions may take up to three working days to process and, in some cases, may require an appointment.

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

  • using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
  • using the GP online system: SystmOnline

These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6.30pm

Please note that medication requests cannot be taken over the telephone.

To request medication login or register for online services below or you can ask your nominated pharmacy to request your repeat medication for you.

Please do not leave your prescription requests to the last minute. It can take up to 3 working days from request to collection from your nominated pharmacy.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
