I am an enthusiastic GP who is passionate about providing health services to the local community, helping people be as healthy as they can be and deal with a wide range of health problems of various complexity.
I trained at University College London and have worked in various hospitals and specialities across the South of England from Ipswich to Truro. I completed my GP training in Somerset in 2007, then took up a partnership where I grew up as a child in South West Wales. This is where I also started training GPs to be, another passion of mine.
In 2014, I made the move with my wife and three children to the Isle of Wight. My wife grew up on the Island and we had many lovely holidays to visit her family prior to moving. We are glad we made the move, it is proving to be a great place to bring up a family and for both outdoor and water sports activities that we enjoy. I am very happy that I am joining the Shanklin Medical Centre team which provides leading GP services and GP training on Island.

I moved to the Island when I joined the practice in October 2004. My wife grew up here and we have two young children. Visiting family here made us appreciate the quality of life an island like this can bring a family, with its mixture of seaside, rural and village life.
I trained at The Royal London Hospital and subsequently worked around London, on the South Coast and for six months in Australia, completing my GP training in Chichester in February 2000. I was then a full time GP in Emsworth for four years.
As a practice we strive to provide high quality family medicine and are willing to adapt to whatever changes are thrown at us in Primary Care. In the past I have enjoyed teaching medical students I now lead the practice in teaching GP registrars. I also have a role as a QOF assessor performing formative assessments to other practices on the Isle of Wight and probity assessments to mainland practices. I am also interested in the benefits a well run IT system brings the practice.
In my spare time I enjoy racing my Sprint 15 catamaran, I am a qualified dinghy instructor and run courses teaching local children to sail. I also enjoy off road motorcycling, skiing, hearing live music and socialising.

I moved to the Isle of Wight in 2010 to work at St Mary’s Hospital and in September 2013 I joined Shanklin Medical Centre as a GP.
The practice priorities of patient centred, high quality care and proactive innovation, reflect my principles and life here on the Island suits me and my young family very well.
When away from work I enjoy spending time both in the countryside and at seaside with my family, also DIY and surfing.

My family and I moved to the Island in March 2010. Having spent 15 yrs working in a London GP practice (10 yrs as a partner), we finally made the move – the draw of the Island had become too irresistible! I am really pleased to have joined the team as it has at its core the ethos of providing high quality care for patients – a belief that I share unreservedly. We have a great, hard working team at the practice.
In addition to working in the practice, I have also been appointed as a GP Appraiser on the Island. I enjoy all aspects of general practice and have a particular interest in womens health and mental health issues.
Outside of work, we have a daughter, a dog and two cats. Living on the Island is the ideal opportunity to take part in water based activities, which we enjoy, from sailing and paddling at the beach to just walking along the coast enjoying watching the world going by.

I’m very pleased to have joined the practice in April 2016 as a full time partner. I had previously completed my training and worked at Shanklin Medical Centre 2 years ago.
I qualified from St George’s University London in 2008. Since my qualification, I have moved to Isle of Wight for my first job at St Mary’s Hospital. I then continued my training from foundation doctor to GP registrar on the island. I have also worked at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice during my training years.
Having trained at Shanklin Medical Cente I found it very inspiring for my career as a doctor. The practice uses innovative and proactive methods to deliver outstanding level of care to improving patient outcomes.
I find the island an ideal place to raise my family with a mixture of tranquil seaside life and busy summer full of festivals and places to go for children. Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family in the garden, park and beaches and playing sports from badminton to basketball.

My wife Elizabeth and I moved to the IOW from East Grinstead, West Sussex in 2006. We are dual citizens of the United Kingdom and the Republic of South Africa. We have no children. Leisure time is spent gardening, cycling, kayaking and travelling.
I did my pre-graduate medical as well as post graduate GP training in South Africa. With moving to the United Kingdom I also did post graduate UK based GP training. I have a healthy interest in all disciplines of medicine hence the decision to be a generalist i.e. General Practitioner. I think I would really get bored if I had to restrict myself to one speciality only, having to deal with the same type of pathology on a day in / day out basis. I offer the following special skills i.e. minor surgery (e.g. excision of skin lesions + “lumps and bumps”, nail removals, etc.), intra-articular + intra-lesional steroid injections as well as the insertion of sub-dermal implants and intra-uterine devices (coils) as well as ear microsuctioning.
My personal view of a General Practitioner’s role in current day society is that we are the managers of people’s health risks. In doing so, we are the gate keepers to secondary and tertiary health care. I believe that mutual respect / trust and above all good communication between GP and patient are essential ingredients to function at an optimal level and achieve good outcomes.
