What is a Carers Assessment?
A Carer’s Assessment is an opportunity for you to discuss your support needs with a professional. It is not a test of your ability to care, but a conversation about how caring impacts your own health, work, and wellbeing.
If you provide regular unpaid care for someone, you are entitled to this assessment regardless of your financial situation or the level of care you provide.
The assessment can help you access:
- Practical support: Including training, equipment, or help with lifting.
- Breaks from caring: Arranging respite care so you can take time for yourself.
- Emergency planning: Discussing what would happen if you were suddenly unable to care.
- Financial & Work advice: Checking you are receiving the correct benefits and support.
For more information on how to request an assessment, please visit the Carers Bucks Guide to Carer’s Assessments.
