Support for Carers

Carers Bucks supports unpaid carers of all ages, from all backgrounds and in all caring roles. This includes young carers, young adult carers, parents of children with a physical or learning disability, older carers, carers from diverse communities, LGBTQ+ carers and those looking after someone with a mental health condition. Carers Bucks also provides support for unpaid carers and the person they care for whilst in Stoke Mandeville, Amersham, Wycombe and Wexham hospitals.

All their services are free to carers

A Carer’s Assessment is an opportunity for you to discuss your support needs with a professional. It is not a test of your ability to care, but a conversation about how caring impacts your own health, work, and wellbeing.

If you provide regular unpaid care for someone, you are entitled to this assessment regardless of your financial situation or the level of care you provide.

The assessment can help you access:

• Practical support: Including training, equipment, or help with lifting.
• Breaks from caring: Arranging respite care so you can take time for yourself.
• Emergency planning: Discussing what would happen if you were suddenly unable to care.
• Financial & Work advice: Checking you are receiving the correct benefits and support.
