Practice Manager

Reception Staff

Reception staff can help with booking appointments to see a doctor, answer your questions and concerns, and offer help. It is a legal and contractual requirement that all staff protect the confidentiality of patients’ records at all times.

Practice Nurses

Our practice nurses can help you with many aspects of healthcare, including:

• Audiograms
• Blood pressure monitoring
• Blood tests
• Cervical smears
• Child vaccinations
• Contraception and family planning advice
• Dietary advice
• Dressing wounds
• Ear syringing
• Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
• General vaccinations
• Health checks
• Removing stitches
• Travel advice and travel vaccinations
• Treatment of injuries
• Urine tests

District Nurses

District nurses care for patients who can’t visit the practice and need skilled nursing care at home. These patients might be recovering from a major operation, or be elderly and too frail to care for themselves. If you are housebound, or you care for someone who is, our nurses can give you plenty of information, advice and support.

Health Visitor

The Health Visitor is a nurse who has been trained in child health and development. Health Visitors are here to support families and their babies, from the birth until the child starts school.

The Health Visiting Service is run by Oxford Health NHS Trust and looks after families with children under 5 years of age.

If you need to contact a Health Visitor for support or advice you can text the Health Visiting message service ParentLine 0-4 years on 07312 263081.

You can see the health visitor by appointment only (available 09.00am to 16.30 noon, Monday – Friday), or by visiting the clinic on a Monday at The Berin Centre (Berinsfield) by appointment only (13.15pm – 14.45). The team can also arrange a home visit if necessary.

Drop in – well child clinics

Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month – Benson Baby Lunch Box – between 9am-10am at Benson Parish Hall

Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month between 10.30am-12pm at Wallingford Child Health Clinic Room next door to Wallingford Medical Practice

1^st Monday of the month between 1pm-2pm at Berin Centre, Berinsfield OX10 7LZ (Sat nav OX10 7NR) (NB: except bank holidays)

1st Tuesday of the month between 9am-10.30am (last admission 10.20am) at Benson Parish Hall

Midwife

The midwife can advise and help with the health of mothers-to-be, new mothers and new-borns. Most care is given at the practice, but scans are done at The John Radcliffe Hospital. For more complex cases, you would be seen in hospital. This would most likely be The John Radcliffe Hospital.

Social Prescriber

Did you know that you can improve your health through social prescription?
Social prescription will link you to non-medical support and there is good evidence that this can lead to positive health and wellbeing outcomes.

• You can be referred to a social prescriber by any of the health care staff at Clifton Hampden Surgery.
• The social prescribers will be able to give you more time to focus on what matters to you.
• They can connect you to community groups and agencies for practical and emotional support; helping you to access local clubs, activities, education, leisure facilities, recovery projects, voluntary organisations and more.
• Becoming connected and engaged in your local community can help you feel supported and can help you feel better.
