Appointments System
Please use our online form to request a GP or ANP appointment, or to submit an admin query such as a sick note request.
Our online form is open from 7am-4pm. If you need attention after 4pm-6.30pm, please call reception for advice.
For blood tests, practice nurse appointments and medication reviews please call the surgery on 01386 553346.
If you chose to call the surgery, it is extremely helpful if you are able to give the receptionist some information about the reason for your call as this enables us to direct you to the correct type of appointment/service.
To help deal with increased demand we have a range of clinicians who are able to offer appointments. We have nurses who can treat patients for a wide range of common conditions and are qualified to prescribe from a range of medicines.
We also have clinical pharmacists who can help with medication queries and management of chronic diseases.
Types of Appointment
- Face to Face
- Telephone
- Video (on request)
- Online (via our online form)
Home Visits
- It is often beneficial to be seen at the surgery because of improved access to equipment and investigations if needed. Due to our wide practice area, our doctors typically see four to six patients at the surgery in the time it takes to do a single home visit. For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible.
- If you are housebound due to a medical condition that means that you cannot attend the surgery, we can visit you at home. Please be aware that we are unable to offer an urgent/immediate visiting service, and home visits should be requested before 12.45pm.
Non-urgent advice: Please note
We are unable to visit you at home if you live outside our practice area.
Please complete our online form to request a home visit, or if you are unable to do this ring the surgery on 01386 553346.
Please be prepared to tell the receptionist about your condition so we can triage your request. Your home visit will be planned according to clinical need if the clinician feels this is appropriate.
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, as this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. Due to the increasing numbers of patients missing appointments, it has become necessary to introduce a Did Not Attend Policy for our patients. Full details can be found in our Policies.
You can cancel your appointment by:
- Calling us: on 01386 553346 and selecting option 2 – check & cancel.
- Reply to the text reminder: – follow instructions within that text reminder (please contact our reception team to set up this function if you do not already receive appointment reminders).
- Online: Use the NHS app and make sure notifications are turned on.
- If you are able to give more than 24 hours’ notice, please complete an online formon our website. (Using the online form within 24 hours may still result in the issue of a DNA.)
- In Person: Attend the practice in person to cancel.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
Please speak to our reception team to register for this service.
Please remember to update your contact details with us if you change address, telephone number or email address.

LOCAL PHARMACY
Your pharmacist can offer medical advice, as well as over-the-counter medicines for minor illnesses, including colds, coughs or sore throats, aches and pains, skin conditions or allergies, as well as many more.
Pharmacists can also refer you to the appropriate help if your symptoms appear to be more serious. Your pharmacist will refer you to your GP, a nurse or other healthcare professional if it is appropriate – so you will not miss out on any level of care by popping in to see them.
You don’t need an appointment to visit your local pharmacist, and many pharmacies are open at weekends and until late on weekdays, so paying a visit is one of the quickest, easiest ways to find professional help for minor health conditions.
You should visit a local pharmacist before seeing a GP if you have:

- A cough, cold or flu?
- An ear ache?
