Since its inception, your surgery has been at the forefront of providing health care to the lovely people of Newport. We pride ourselves in working with our patients in forming close-knit associations that have helped us achieve quality healthcare outcomes for our local community.
As time proceeds and we move towards the future, it is pertinent to involve your voice and suggestions in our effort to deliver you an excellent health service on an ongoing basis.
It is therefore with much excitement and enthusiasm that we invite you to volunteer to join our patient participation group. Members are sometimes referred to as ‘critical friends’.
Patient participation group (PPG) is an excellent platform that allows patients and practice staff to meet on a quarterly basis and discuss the provision of care services at community level.
Its purpose is to engage with you, to improve communication channels between the practice as the service provider and you as the service user, to enable us to acknowledge each other’s viewpoints, to share resources that help enable better self-help and support amongst our patients, to enable you to make the best use of available health care and to welcome your comments and suggestions that may help us improve our service provision.
We must emphasize though that the PPG is not a forum for individual complaints. The practice has a robust complaints procedure in place already.
We aim to gather patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. Young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from diverse backgrounds are all invited and needed. We aim to have a robust group of between ten to twenty people in this regard initially.
If you are happy to proceed with joining the group, please ask reception staff for a PPG invite form, or else complete the form on the practice website.
We look forward to having you on our PPG.
