Blood tests for most conditions are now only be available at the Princess Royal Hospital outpatient phlebotomy department or at a Community Diagnostic Centre rather than here at Shawbirch Medical Centre.
Blood tests are routinely taken at Shawbirch Medical Centre for:
- patients on warfarin, or
- patients on drugs which require specific monitoring, such as methotrexate, sulfasalazine, leflunomide, lithium, azathioprine, or
- patients on chemotherapy.
If you are unsure whether you are eligible for blood tests at the practice, please discuss with a receptionist who may get advice from a GP.
If you are eligible for a blood test at the medical centre, please make an appointment with our healthcare assistants.
Appointments for adult blood tests at the Princess Royal Hospital or Community Diagnostic Centre can be made by booking online or calling 01743 492510.
Blood tests for children must be booked by calling 01743 450855.
For a fasting test you need to eat and drink nothing but water for 10 hours before the test.
