---

Named GP

All patients registered with the practice have a named GP who is responsible for the co-ordination of all appropriate services and to ensure they are delivered where required (based on the named GPs clinical judgement) to each of their patients. We would like to highlight that this does not stop patients consulting with a GP of their choice.

Practice Nurses

Practice nurses provide health promotion e.g., dietary advice, immunisations for children and travellers, advice on precautions when abroad, dressings and removal of sutures, smears and chronic disease annual reviews.

Health Care Assistants

Health care assistants provide new patient health checks, blood pressure checks, taking blood samples, influenza/pneumonia and B12 injections and ECGs.

Pharmacist/Pharmacy Technicians

The pharmacist and pharmacy technicians conduct medication/hypertension reviews.

Mental Health Practitioner

Mental health practitioners assess people’s needs, provide advice and guidance and support access to appropriate services if required. Book an appointment if you suffering from anxiety, stress or low mood and are not already open to mental health services.

First Contact Practitioners (FCP)

First contact practitioners (FCP) help with neck, shoulder, back hip, knee, ankle or foot pain, sprains, strains, sports injuries, arthritis, problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone, pins and needles or numbness and guidance after orthopaedic surgery.

Social Prescribers

• Connects people to non-medical community-based activities, groups and services that meet practical, social and emotional needs, including specialist advice services and the arts, physical activity and nature
• Helps people identify issues that affect their health and wellbeing when co-producing a personalised care and support plan

Paramedics/UCP (Urgent Care Practitioner)

• Performs home visits for urgent assessment
• Advises and signpost patients
• Supports anticipatory care plans
• Manages minor illness

Administration

Adequate modern medical care is not provided by the Clinicians alone. We work as a team to provide a comprehensive service and our admin team consists of two Data Management Co-Ordinators and six Receptionists.

Reception

The Receptionists are there to help you. They will make appointments for you to see members of our Primary Care Team for example, our Nurse Practitioner, Practice Pharmacist, Physician’s Associate, Practice Nurses and our Healthcare Assistants; as well as the GPs. They can arrange transport if necessary for hospital appointments, please discuss as early as possible. If there are any concerns you have with regards to the service offered at the Surgery please do not hesitate to ask.

As a training practice we regularly have GP registrars working over six month intervals.
