Posted on:

There are three items in Sky Blues in the Community Mental Health work this month:

New online mental health course for men (MENtalk).

Starting Monday 25th July

Sky Blues in the Community’s friendly, understanding team will deliver a six-week block of targeted discussions around a range of common, relatable mental health topics which affect men. They will teach techniques on how to deal with different issues in an environment where men make friends and feel supported.

Topics include:

  • Understanding anxiety
  • Managing depression
  • Cognitive behavioural approaches
  • A compassionate mind
  • Sleep, exercise and stress
  • Guest slot from our Independent Mental Health Advocate to discuss the support available with a focus on managing medication, navigating NHS services and receiving financial/housing support.

To sign up or refer any men who would be interested in learning more and joining in, please email Robbie:

Employment opportunity to join their mental health team

Sky Blues in the Community are recruiting a Mental Health Co-Ordinator to join in their successful mental health work and become part of the team which delivers MENtalk. The role will ensure we have an even greater impact on local men across Coventry and Warwickshire. For more information on how to apply, see the most appropriate link below:

DEMENTIA Active sessions in Nuneaton and Warwick

Sky Blues in the Community want to reach out to people across the Nuneaton and Warwick areas who are living with dementia to let them know about DEMENTIA Active. This is a popular project which they launched in Coventry in November 2021. They recently launched in Nuneaton and Warwick to support individuals with a diagnosis of dementia or mild cognitive impairment and are looking for more people to join them.

The sessions offer a range of activities, such as: basketball, table tennis, quoits, archery, Jenga and badminton among many others. They support people with dementia to re-engage with activities you used to enjoy and meet people who have similar physical and cognitive difficulties. Sessions also act as respite for carers who are welcome to attend.
