Heart Health Day – 27th February 2025
Join Us for Heart Health Day 2025 – Blood Pressure Checks and Health Advice!
We’re excited to invite you to our third annual Heart Health Day on Thursday 27th February 2025 at Cheswick Green Village Hall. Whether you’ve not had your blood pressure checked recently or are simply looking to improve your heart health, this event is the perfect opportunity to get the support you need.
Why Attend Heart Health Day?
Too many people are still living with undetected and poorly managed atrial fibrillation (AF), high blood pressure (BP) and raised cholesterol. Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 17.9 million deaths each year, 31% of all global deaths.
Heart Health Day is a chance for you to take control of your health with free blood pressure and pulse checks, NHS Health checks, expert health advice, and the opportunity to engage with local exercise and health and wellbeing groups. If you’ve been meaning to check your blood pressure or are wondering how you can become more active, this event is for you!
Who Should Come?
This event is ideal for people who:
- Haven’t had their blood pressure checked recently or who have had a high reading in the past but have not discussed with a healthcare professional.
- Want to get more active and improve their fitness levels but aren’t sure where to start.
- Haven’t had a recent NHS Health check (eligible patients only)
What’s on Offer?
- Blood Pressure Checks: We will have our Clinical Pharmacists and local community pharmacy staff on hand to check your blood pressure. If your readings are higher than normal, we’ll provide guidance on the next steps and how to manage your heart health.
- Health & Wellbeing Advice: Our pharmacy and health and wellbeing teams will offer advice on how to get more active, improve your diet, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Even if you haven’t been very active recently, we can help you take small steps towards better health.
- Local Health Services: Meet organisations like Solihull Active, Park Run, local gyms and exercise groups, who will all be offering advice on how to boost your activity levels and improve your overall wellbeing. We will also have Solihull smoking cessation services there to support you with stopping smoking.
How It Works
- Blood Pressure Check: On the day, you’ll be directed to a pharmacist for a blood pressure check. After this, you’ll have the chance to meet local health groups who can offer advice on getting started with exercise and other health initiatives.
- We will take action on the day, based on your blood pressure readings. This could include providing reassurance and healthy lifestyle advice, referring you for home blood pressure monitoring or ambulatory blood pressure monitoring at your local pharmacy, or providing a same day GP assessment.
