GPS Healthcare Raises over £5000 For Chosen Charity Of The Year: PAPYRUS During A Week of Caring, Community, and Challenge

Posted on:

We are excited to share that GPS Healthcare has successfully raised over £5000 for PAPYRUS, the UK charity dedicated to preventing young suicides. The funds raised will directly support PAPYRUS in their life-saving work to offer support, training, and resources to help young people who are struggling with their mental health.

Our charity week was an exciting and fun-filled week, filled with activities that not only raised vital funds but also helped raise awareness of mental health issues within our community. Here’s a look at the incredible efforts our staff and local partners made to support this meaningful cause.

Throughout the week, staff across our PCN came together in a variety of ways to show their commitment to supporting PAPYRUS and promoting mental health and wellbeing.

Baking for a Cause

One of the highlights of our charity week was the bake sale organised by our staff. From cupcakes to cookies, cakes, and pastries, our talented bakers created a spread that was not only delicious but also raised much-needed funds for PAPYRUS. The generosity and baking skills of our staff ensured that the event was a huge success, with all proceeds from the sale going to the charity.

Raffle for a Cause

In addition to our activities, we hosted a raffle with fantastic prizes generously donated by our colleagues and local organizations. From gift vouchers to local experiences and goodies, the raffle was a fun and exciting way to support PAPYRUS. A huge thank you to everyone who donated prizes and participated in the raffle—your support made a real difference!

Step Challenges: Moving for Mental Health

Our team also took part in a step challenge, where staff members tracked their steps throughout the week in support of mental health awareness. Whether it was a walk around the local park or extra steps during the workday, the challenge encouraged both physical and mental wellbeing. The collective effort resulted in thousands of steps taken and even more funds raised for the cause!

Mental Health and Wellbeing Event

In addition to our fundraising efforts, we held a mental health and wellbeing event on Saturday 01 March for GPS Healthcare patients at our Meadowside Family Health Centre, with support from local mental health and wellbeing groups. This event brought together individuals from various local organisations to discuss mental health, share resources, and offer support to those struggling. It was a meaningful opportunity for our patients to access the support they need and learn more about mental health resources available to them.

The 11.5 Mile Walk/Run/Cycle Challenge

The culmination of our charity week was an 11.5 mile walk, run, or cycle, where colleagues came together to take on the challenge. Participants chose their preferred mode of exercise, and together, we completed the 11.5 miles to raise funds for PAPYRUS. The sense of camaraderie, determination, and shared purpose was truly inspiring, and it was a perfect way to end our week of fundraising.

The Impact of Your Support

Thanks to the collective efforts of our amazing staff, patients, and community partners, we have raised over £5000 for PAPYRUS. These funds will go directly to supporting the charity’s vital work, including:

  • Support services: PAPYRUS provides a confidential helpline (HOPELINEUK) for young people who are struggling with suicidal thoughts, and for those who care about them.
  • Education and training: PAPYRUS offers mental health training for professionals to better equip them in identifying and supporting young people at risk.
  • Advocacy: PAPYRUS works tirelessly to raise awareness and influence policy to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

Your generosity and dedication to this cause have made a significant difference. We are proud to be part of a community that is committed to improving mental health and saving lives.

Thank You!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in and supported our charity week. Whether you baked, walked, donated, or volunteered your time, you have made an incredible impact. We are proud to have been able to raise funds for PAPYRUS and contribute to their life-saving work. Mental health is an issue that affects everyone, and together, we are showing that we care. Let’s continue to support one another and keep the conversation going.
