Patients’ Rights

Patients Have the Right to:

  • be registered with a doctor
  • be offered a health check on joining the practice
  • receive emergency care from the practice between 8.00am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday
  • receive appropriate drugs and medicines
  • be referred to a specialist or for a second opinion if they and the doctor agree that it is clinically necessary
  • to view their medical records, subject to the law and to know that those working for the NHS are under a legal obligation to keep the contents of medical records confidential
  • be treated as individuals and partners in their healthcare, irrespective of their sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation and religion or belief
  • be seen within 30 minutes of their appointment time whenever possible. In the event of a delay we will offer an explanation
  • If a doctor is called away to an emergency we will tell the patients as soon as possible.  An opportunity to be seen by another doctor or to book an alternative appointment will be offered.
