Urgent appointments
There are a limited number of pre-bookable appointments that will be available for the patients to book into, and here you may specify the doctor you wish to see.
Once these are fully booked and an urgent appointment is required to see the GP, patients are advised to call (01254 949560) in the morning at 8am so that an urgent appointment can be booked for them for that day.
- Please note that it is not always possible to request a specific doctor when booking an urgent on the day appointment.
Routine appointments
Olive Medical Practice is open to all our patients every working day, Monday – Friday on the telephone and face-to-face from 8am until 6:30pm, and until 8:30pm on Wednesday evenings.
Phone us on 01254 949560
We offer GP appointments all throughout weekdays (excluding Bank Holidays and Staff Training Sessions), from morning through to early evening.
Non-urgent advice: Patient Access
** Please note patients will need to register for this service before it can be used for the first time by contacting Reception in person to fill out the relevant paperwork – you will need to bring proof of ID (photographic) with you**
Your appointment
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
- on a video call
- by text or email
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
If you no longer require your appointment, please cancel it at the earliest opportunity by contacting the surgery via telephone (01254 949560) or in person. This prevents the appointment being wasted and it can be offered to someone else who needs to be seen.
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
If you are unable to come into the surgery and require a GP to visit you at home please contact reception on 01254 287070 as soon as possible, and if possible before 10.00am.
Appropriate reasons for a home visit would include a bedbound patient, those patients who are terminally ill and those patients that would come to serious harm if moved.
Home visits are NOT suitable for patients who cannot come to the surgery because of a lack of money or transport, children, young people or anyone that is mobile, social reasons or for the convenience of a home visit, or if you are able to attend other appointments with no problems (i.e. hairdressing appointments).
Patients do not have an automatic right to a home visit and doctors are required to consider home visits for medical reasons only.
All visit requests will be medically assessed to check for their appropriateness.
It is always preferable where possible to attend the surgery as patients can be seen more promptly with better facilities.
