Urgent appointments
Each day we offer a limited number of emergency appointments for patients who need to speak to/see a Doctor with an urgent medical issue. This is usually something that cannot wait for a routine appointment to be dealt with, but it is not urgent enough to attend A&E.
If you feel you need an emergency appointment, please contact us as soon as possible so that you can be placed on the triage list for the day. You will receive a phone call in the first instance with whichever clinician is working that day, and may not be with your preferred GP/ANP. Once someone has contacted you, if they need to see you on a face to face basis, they will discuss this with you and arrange a time for you to come down to surgery the same day. If you have requested a same day call back from someone, please ensure you keep your phone nearby as they are unable to give you a time when the call will be made. If you miss the call, it is not guaranteed you will receive a call back the same day depending on the number of patients waiting for a call.
We offer same day acute clinic appointments through the extended hours services. you may be offered one of these appointments if available. These are held within different local health centres so you may need to travel to attend the appointment.
Children under 12 will always be put on the triage list on the same day if they become unwell.
Please only use this facility if you feel that there are no other services that may be able to assist you, as demand for these appointments can often be very high. Pharmacies all have trained staff who can help with minor ailments and injuries such as coughs and cold, stings and minor cuts and bruises. If you are unsure what service might be able to help you, you can call 111 any time for help and advice.
PLEASE DO NOT GO TO A&E UNLESS YOU HAVE A SERIOUS OR LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY. They are not able to provide services for people with routine problems that can be dealt with by a GP, and you will likely be sent away.

Routine appointments
To request a routine appointment in the next 7 days:
- Send an Online Request – Click here to complete an online request. Your form will then be sent online directly to the GP’s who will read through and triage your request, and you will be contacted with an appointment. Please note that this is only required for appointments with the GP’s or Advanced Nurse Practitioners. Appointments with the Nurses for health checks, blood tests, immunisations etc can still be booked in the usual manner.
- In person – you can call into the surgery any time between 8.00am and 6.30pm and make an appointment at reception. If you have seen the GP and it has been suggested that a follow up appointment be made in the future, we recommend doing this as soon as possible as the GP’s do get booked up fairly quickly.
- By telephone – please contact the surgery on 01204 463232 to book an appointment with the GP, ANP or Practice Nurse, or one of our other clinicians such as our mental health practitioner or musculoskeletal practitioner. These can be made as either a face to face appointment or a telephone consultation
- Via your chosen app – you will need to download one of the free apps from your providers app store. Once downloaded you will be asked to register with the information that will be given at the time of registering for online services. Not all apps currently have the function of being able to submit an appointment request online, but currently MyGP and Patient Access do offer this facility. Please use the links provided for more information on how to use and download the currents apps that offer these services.

Waiting Times
The doctor tries to give every patient as much time as he/she needs. However, this could mean that your appointment time may be delayed. You will be informed of major delays. If you no longer require your appointment, then let the surgery know as soon as possible, to enable us to offer this appointment to another patient.
Home visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:30am.
You will be asked to provide information on the reason a visit is needed, and a contact telephone number. The Doctor will call you back to discuss your symptoms and assess the urgency of the visit.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
Home visits are carried out by different Doctors on different days, and you may not be visited by your first choice of Doctor.
