Pharmacy Team
Our practice prescribing team are responsible for requesting prescriptions and distributing the request to the appropriate clinician or to our practice Pharmacist. On a day to day basis they will chase hospital discharges, medication quires, community pharmacy queries and patient enquiries.
Our Pharmacists will also assist with communication across a patient’s care pathway, manage medicines shortages by suggesting suitable alternatives where appropriate.

As the Practice Business Manager, Lesley oversees the operational, financial, and administrative functions of our GP practice. Lesley’s responsibilities include managing the day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring the smooth delivery of high-quality patient care, overseeing compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the strategic aims and development of the practice. Lesley works closely with our clinical and administrative teams along with our wider NHS colleagues and local community organisations to optimise resources, develop services, whilst cultivating a welcoming environment for both patients, staff and visitors. Lesley’s role is pivotal in ensuring the practice operates efficiently and continues to meet the needs of our diverse community.

As the Data Quality & Performance Manager, Kirsty plays a key role in ensuring our GP practice operates at its highest standards. Kirsty’s responsibilities include monitoring and improving the accuracy and quality of patient data, analysing performance metrics to support informed decision-making, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Kirsty works closely with clinical and administrative teams to implement efficient data systems and drive continuous improvement in our services. By maintaining robust data processes, Kirsty assists our Practice Business Manager to ensure the practice delivers safe, effective, and patient-centred care. Kirsty also leads on our PPG.

Office Manager
As the Office Manager, Danielle oversees the administrative and reception teams, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our GP practice. Danielle’s responsibilities include coordinating daily operations, managing workflows, and fosters a positive and supportive working environment for our staff. Danielle works closely with all staff to maintain high standards of patient service, streamline processes, and address any challenges that arise. By supporting our teams and enhancing operational efficiency, Danielle helps to ensure that patients receive a seamless and welcoming experience at our practice. Danielle is also responsible for managing and attending community events and engagement.
Reception/Admin Team
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query.Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
We have a large Reception/Admin staff who are well versed in recognising an emergency situation in which immediate medical attention is require.

Clinical Coders
A clinical coder is a health information professional whose main duties are to analyse clinical statements and assign standard codes using a classification system.
A clinical coder is responsible for analysing a patient’s medical record, which includes reports and letters transcribed by the medical transcriptionist reviews the patient’s file in detail and converts the documented medical procedures, diagnosis, and resources into codes.

Secretarial Team
Medical secretaries provide administrative support to doctors in general practice (GP’s). As well as having strong secretarial skills, our medical secretaries have an understanding of the medical terminology and special administrative practices required in our healthcare environment.
The work of a medical secretary varies from day to day, our medical secretaries have a great deal of patient contact. They are also responsible for dictating letters, sending referrals and much more. Our secretaries will often support and work alongside GP’s, nurses, practice managers, medical receptionists and therapists.

Focused Care Worker
Our focused care practitioner works with patients to fill the gaps between health and social care, helping to unpick and support everything from debt, the threat of homelessness to parenting or benefit problems.
A Focused Care Practitioner is based within your GP practice and can support you with lots of health and social issues that you might be experiencing including issues to do with finances & benefits, family issues, mental health, housing and more. Focused Care Practitioners are highly experienced in what they do and hold lots of knowledge around health and social matters. They will work alongside you (and others in your household if appropriate) and take a patient-based approach to ensure that you are supported for every step of the way. Midwife
The Midwives look after all aspects of maternity from initial booking to postnatal care. You can contact St Mary’s Midwife team on 0161 276 6567. The midwifes are in surgery all day on a Friday morning.
Patients can now self refer themselves to St Mary’s Maternity services once they have had their first positive pregnancy test.

Citizens Advice Bureau
We also have access to this service at our surgery. Patients can be referred via the GP if they are suffering from stress due to problems with finances, housing, employment etc.
Designated Clinical Training Practice

The Arch Medical Practice is proudly a designated training practice. Dr Hawting, Dr Leigh, Dr Colabella and Dr Pugh are our designated trainers. The practice is passionate about training our future GPs. GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who are training to be General Practitioners (GPs), and any care you receive by them will be discuss with a senior GP.
Student Health Professionals
The practice is involved in teaching a variety of health professionals. From time-to-time we have student nurses and doctors working with us. Wherever possible, we try to include them in the practice team, and they may spend time sitting in consultations with the nurses or doctors. They are bound by the same rules of the professionalism and confidentiality as the rest of the team. We will always inform you when a student might be present during your consultations. You can opt out at any time and this will not affect your care in any way.
Further Training For Pharmacists And Nurses
We also train other professionals such as advanced clinical practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. They are working under supervision from a Senior GP or clinician to develop the skills special to general practice.
