Appointments

Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment Monday to Friday:

  • use our appointment request form, Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. We will aim respond within 4 hours during opening times
  • phone us on 0161 621 4800, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm

When you get in touch, we will ask the reason for your appointment. Screening of appointment requests in this way directs patients to the right service/practitioner often meaning that patients are seen more quickly than waiting for a GP appointment. It will also ensure that if you do need to see a GP you are booked in with the most appropriate GP for your needs.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Please note: We do ask that you do not just turn up at surgery at 8.00 am without an appointment, please telephone the receptionist and you will get a call back from a clinician.

If all our phone lines are busy we now offer a call back service, once the call back function has been requested the phone number provided will receive a call back from the surgery, you will then be put back in the queue to speak to one of our receptionists, there may be a delay in being “put through” this is normal so we ask for your patience.

Home visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 11:00 am if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a Community Nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a Health Visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

The doctors will often telephone patients before a visit.

Contraceptive Implant Clinic

One of our doctors has recently completed training in fitting and removing contraceptive implants and we will be starting a clinic at the surgery soon.

The contraceptive implant is a small plastic rod that is inserted under local anaesthetic under the skin of the arm, and works as contraception by releasing the hormone progestogen. It works for 3 years before it needs to be replaced and is over 99% effective.

More information can be found on the NHS website:

https://www.nhs.uk/contraception/methods-of-contraception/contraceptive-implant

If you’d like to consider having an implant fitted, please contact reception to make an appointment  with the doctor who will have a discussion with you before arranging a fitting if suitable.
