Nursing Associates work with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide care under supervision, improve safety and quality, and support integrated care. Their duties complement the existing workforce, and they supervise trainees and assistants.
They assist registered nurses with complex care, build relationships across health and social care, and perform clinical tasks like taking vital signs and, after training, giving flu shots and doing ECGs. They promote health and well-being, care for patients with dementia, mental health issues, and learning disabilities, and advise on general healthcare. Effective communication, accurate record-keeping, and ongoing professional development are essential parts of their role.
