Booking an Appointment

Our opening hours: 08.00 – 18.00 Monday to Friday

(Closed on Bank Holidays)

Southern Group Practice LLC runs a telephone triage appointment system for the doctors.  You will be offered a telephone consultation with a GP who will arrange to see you face to face if they deem it necessary.  We do not offer a drop-in service.

Appointment times for GPs are generally from 08.40 to 11.30 and 16.00 to 17.30 and are of 10 minute duration.

You may book a telephone consultation with a doctor up to 4 weeks in advance.

Urgent Appointments

Urgent appointments are available if required, but they are unlikely to be with the doctor of your choice. You are asked to ring in as soon as possible after 08.00 to secure one. The receptionist may ask details of your problem to pass onto the doctor, and this information is treated confidentially but is helpful to the doctor.

Non-urgent advice: Cancel an Appointment

PLEASE RING AND CANCEL ANY APPOINTMENTS THAT ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED.

Chaperones

The practice will provide a chaperone for consultations with either a doctor or a practice nurse. Patients requiring a chaperone should make this request when booking their appointment.

Telephone Advice

The doctors prefer to see patients in surgery, but you may request to speak to a doctor regarding non-urgent matters. Please telephone reception before 11.00 and leave your contact details and the doctor will try to call you back the same day. If you ring after 11.00 it may be the following day before you are contacted. Please note that the receptionists will ask you for details about the reason for the call, this is for the doctors information and is essential.

If you require urgent advice please alert the receptionist and you will be dealt with as soon as possible.

Home Visits

Whenever possible please attend the surgery for it is often easier for the doctor to examine and treat you in our well equipped premises. If, however, you are too ill to attend the surgery the please telephone 686979 before 11.00am and request a house call. Our receptionists have been trained to ask you for details of your illness. They are not being intrusive but need this information to pass on to the doctor to enable them to prioritise their calls.
