Warm Spaces in Cornwall!
Including a link to a map of various warm spaces
To help support people during the cost of living crisis, numerous venues throughout Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly have been designated as Warmth Banks.
These are safe places, in local communities, which can offer many facilities including a warm venue to socialise, hot drinks, hot food, information & advice, and activities.
An interactive map has been created so you can find what’s closest to you.
Click HERE to access the map. Click on the pin to open a summary of the venue e.g. opening hours, facilities, contact details etc.
Barnardo’s Exceed website
The aim of the site is to provide a one stop shop for families, young people and professionals across Devon and Cornwall around Child Sexual Exploitation, and to make sure they can then triage, signpost and support young people who need services.
Please contact them about any young people who need the service, either via the referral form which can be downloaded now from the contact us page or via the online proforma which can be found there too.
Every Mind Matters
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has launched their new loneliness campaign activity as part of the Better Health – Every Mind Matters campaign.
The campaign primarily aims to reach 16-34 year olds by continuing to encourage them to ‘Lift Someone Out of Loneliness’, knowing that this will likely help their own feelings of loneliness. This is based on recent research that shows that people in this demographic are at higher risk of feeling lonely compared to other age groups, but less likely to seek advice and support.
If you’re feeling lonely this winter, search ‘Every Mind Matters; for support and advice or go to https://www.nhs.uk/every-mind-matters/lifes-challenges/loneliness/

Cornwall Menopause Clinic
We know that stigma can be a huge barrier for those accessing reproductive healthcare, whatever their age and stage of life. That’s why we are delighted to have secured new funding from the Department of Health and Social Care Women’s Health and Wellbeing Fund to fight stigma and improve the lives of Cornwall residents experiencing menopause in the workplace.
Brook’s new Menopause Support Programme will empower women and those experiencing menopause to feel supported to remain in work or return to work. We will do this through tailored 1:1 support, addressing stigma and raising awareness of the impact the menopause can have within the workplace. We will also provide practical support to local businesses to redevelop their policies and procedures so that they are inclusive of people experiencing the menopause.
If you would like any more information regarding this project please email cornwallmenopauseproject@brook.org.uk
Check In and Chat Service
NHS health teams can refer lonely and isolated patients for check in and chat service.
Over a thousand volunteers have signed up to provide friendly phone calls for patients in England who are vulnerable, isolated or lonely, as the NHS Volunteer Responders programme reintroduces its Check in and Chat service.
GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare workers are being encouraged to request Check in and Chat support for patients who are socially isolated or would benefit from a phone call and a bit of encouragement – with an option to request just a one-off call or a series of calls.
With thousands more volunteers expected to sign up in the coming weeks, this move signals a new phase of the NHS volunteer programme, which was set up at the start of the pandemic to support people who were self-isolating with simple tasks such as shopping, fetching medication and lifts to medical appointments.
Check in and Chat volunteers will provide a listening ear and, where appropriate, help patients explore positive changes they could make to their lives, for example to connect with others, become more physically active or to learn new skills or volunteer, and will signpost to other services and support in the community.
Referring a patient is easy and completely free through the GoodSAM platform, practitioners can register at: GoodSAM (goodsamapp.org)
