Test Results
If you are referred to have further tests, the results will be sent to the practice either in written format or electronically dependent upon the type of test undertaken. They will be reviewed by a clinical staff member (doctor or nurse) who will advise on the next steps to be taken.
You will be advised when to contact the practice to find out the results. If the test results are not routine, you will be contacted when the results arrive and advised of the next steps.
Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results so if you have any questions it is your responsibility to make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.
Blood tests usually take up to a week to be processed and returned, X-rays normally take between 10 to 14 days and cervical smear results and ultrasound results can take up to three weeks.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
