Non NHS services

The doctors are entitled to decide what services to provide that fall outside the NHS contractual obligations. Non NHS Services are often referred to as ‘private work’ . Doctors can choose what they offer and some service may have a charge. These services include private health care, insurance forms, holiday cancellation forms, local council letters and many others. We aim to complete non nhs requests within 28 days of receipt. Please see a summary of our fees below.

We often get asked “I only need the doctor’s signature-what is the problem”. When a doctor signs a certificate or completes a report, it is a condition of remaining on the Medical Register that they only sign what they know to be true. Therefore in order to complete even the simplest of forms, the doctor needs to check the patient’s entire record. Carelessness or an inaccurate report can have serious consequences for the doctor, with the General Medical Council or even the Police.

Please note that we do not provide ‘Pregnancy fit to fly certificates/letters’. Pregnancy related Fitness to Fly letters do not fall within our NHS obligations and we presently do not have capacity within our clinical workforce to assess a patient’s fitness to fly at the current time. There are private GP services available locally & nationally that may be able to assist.
