Pharmacy First

We are working with all of the Pharmacies in Felixstowe in a co-production called Pharmacy First. This is a nationwide programme that is aimed at managing the huge numbers of minor illnesses that can now be treated by your Pharmacist. Your local Pharmacist can prescribe and issue antibiotics for the following conditions;

sinusitis / sinus infection (12 years and over, suffering for more than 10 days)

sore throat (5 years and over)

earache (only for 1 – 17 year old)

infected insect bite (1 year and over, reaction still present after 48 hours)

impetigo (1 year and over)

shingles (18 years and over)

This service is expected to free up GP appointments for patients who need them most and should reduce the number of calls coming through to the surgery which in turn will be helpful for patients who need to speak to us.
