Try the NHS App. If you’re a patient at our practice you can now use the new NHS App, a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet. You can use the NHS App to get health advice, order repeat prescriptions, manage your hospital referrals, view your GP health record and more. What the NHS App does
- get advice about coronavirus – get information about coronavirus and find out what to do if you think you have it.
- order repeat prescriptions – see your available medicines, request a new repeat prescription and choose a pharmacy for your prescriptions to be sent to.
- book appointments – search for, book and cancel appointments at your GP surgery, and see details of your upcoming and past appointments.
- check your symptoms – search trusted NHS information and advice on hundreds of conditions and treatments, and get instant advice or medical help near you.
- register your organ donation decision – choose to donate some or all of your organs and check your registered decision.
- find out how the NHS uses your data – choose if data from your health records is shared for research and planning.
- view parts of your GP record – including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results.

Non-urgent advice: Having Problems?
You can still contact the practice by phone or in person, this is just another option, which other patients have found is more convenient and saves them time. Pharmacies now offer support for several common conditions and can also provide oral contraception (both combined and progestogen-only pills), weight loss treatment and much more, all to help reduce the pressure on GP surgeries.
Pharmacy First & NHS Pharmacy Contraceptive Service
Pharmacy First is a service where you can access medical advice and prescription treatments, if necessary, for a range of common conditions. Normal NHS prescription charges apply.
The NHS Pharmacy Contraceptive Service enables you to continue with your current contraceptive or start a new contraceptive, depending on the outcome of your consultation. Contraception is free via this service.
What Do They Cover
Pharmacy First offers the diagnosis, treatment and NHS medication for seven common conditions, including:
- Sinusitis
- Sore throat
- Earache
- Infected insect bites
- Impetigo
- Shingles
- Uncomplicated UTIs in women
You can access the NHS Pharmacy Contraceptive Service if you need to start or continue your oral contraception. The requirements are:
- Combined pill: Ages from the first period up to 49
- Progestogen-only pill (POP): Ages from the first period up to 54
Remember, before you contact your GP, think of your pharmacy first. Use these services if you’re looking to access advice and treatment for the above conditions or to continue current or new oral contraception.
How To Access These Services

Simply select your condition (or contraception request) and complete a quick pre-consultation to check eligibility. If eligible, you’ll have a phone call with a trained pharmacist.
During the call, they’ll ask about your symptoms, medical history, and current medications. They’ll offer home care advice and may prescribe medication for free if you qualify.
Don’t worry–a pharmacist will always refer you to your GP, a nurse or a specialist if further care is needed. Additionally, there’s no need to visit an in-store pharmacy; Chemist4U will deliver any prescribed treatments straight to your door in discreet packaging at no extra cost.
