Practice part closed for training. Dates for 2025

The Practice takes part in the protected learning time organised on our behalf by Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB on the dates in the table below. Whilst our telephone lines are closed from13:00, our reception desk remains open as normal.

What is Protected Learning Time (PLT)

PLT is a dedicated period for healthcare professionals (including administrative Health Professionals) to focus on their professional development. PLT sessions can include:

• Learning about new clinical developments
• Receiving updates on current guidance and best practices
• Sharing experiences and knowledge with colleagues
• Developing clinical and non-clinical capabilities
• Leadership
• Education
• Research
• Peer network attendance
• Training
• Self-directed study 

PLT sessions can help healthcare professionals improve patient care and safety, update their knowledge, advance their practice, and develop as educators.

On the following dates our telephone lines are closed for the afternoon from 13:00 until 18:30. The system message will advise patients to telephone 111 in case of emergencies.

The following services are not available on PLT afternoons

1. Routine appointments with any clinician
2. Our Reception team have their meeting, usually 14:00 until 15:00. The reception desk is still open during this time with temporary staff covering. Please be kind to the staff on duty during this time, they don’t normally work on reception.
3. Our nursing team have their meeting usually between 13:00 and 16:00
4. Our Clinical team attend training sessions either internally or externally between 13:00 and 18:30
